Environmentally-Friendly Solutions in a Developing Market
Manufacturing and distributing corrugated containers, labels, cushioning systems, and packaging products — that’s our business. Being environmentally responsible and making certain that the materials we use come from managed, sustainable sources — that’s our commitment.
At The BoxMaker, we ensure that the highest possible percentage of our product lines are made with recycled content, and that our products themselves are also recyclable.
Our environmental initiative includes:
- Environmentally friendly materials and end-products
- In-house waste reduction, collection and recycling
- RoHS compliant
- Water-based inks and adhesives
- Lean manufacturing procedures
We buy all corrugated materials for our product components from suppliers that are members of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). SFI ensures the long-term growth of North American Forests by implementing initiative and standards for manufacturing. SFI plants 1.7 million trees per day, and by responsibly managing this renewable resource, corrugated has become the leader in sustainable feedstock materials.
Our standard corrugated material averages 53% post consumer recycled fiber and the majority of the material is created in the Northwest. In an effort to answer our clients’ needs, we offer 100% post consumer waste corrugated at the same price as our standard material. This is a unique offering and is an ideal solution for companies looking to make a positive impact without paying a premium for “going green”.
Renewable biofuels make up approximately 60% of the energy used by the U.S. paper industry. Corrugated material production does not rely on petroleum-based energy, so it remains at the forefront of alternative energy processing. In addition to industry-wide reduction of material waste, over 25 million tons of corrugated are recycled annually.

Businesses are constantly trying to ship large items in a way that is environmentally-friendly, reduces freight costs, and prevents product damage. Thus, the demand for ECORRCRATE—a crate made out of 100% recyclable corrugated to replace the traditional wooden crate.
ECORRCRATE packaging boasts strength ratings that can out-perform their wooden counterparts, and weigh significantly less. This saves on freight costs and requires less fuel consumption during shipment which ultimately has a better environmental impact. Often times an end user does not have a need for a wooden crate; ECORRCRATES are curbside recyclable so no burden is placed on the consumer.
ECORRCRATES are completely coated to be water resistant without compromising strength which allows protection from the elements that they may come in contact with—rain and snow. They are reusable as well–knock them down and store them flat in your warehouse to save space, and then assemble them in minutes to streamline your production line.
Let us help you decide if ECORRCRATES are an ideal fit for your business strategy.
Green Cell Foam
Green Cell Foam is made from high-grade, non-GMO cornstarch and extruded into planks using water instead of blowing agents (gasses). The materials used for continued product are sustainable. The end product is also biodegradable and compostable for earth-friendly end-of-life disposal. These properties also make it a natural dessicant and give the material thermal properties, making it a more sustainable alternative to Polystyrene used in 6-piece liner sets to keep shipments cool in transit.
This material is mostly used for: cushioning; blocking and bracing; end caps and corner guards; 6-piece liner sets; and eco-friendly alternatives to Polystyrene, Polyethylene and Ployurethane foams.
Restore® Mushroom® Packaging by Sealed Air
Restore Mushroom Packaging is grown using sustainable non-food agriculture byproducts and combined with mycelium. The growth happens in molded tooling and the optimum temperature and humidity environments. The result is a packaging substrate optimal for cushioning, blocking and bracing, corner and edge protection, and cavity molds. Restore Mushroom Packaging is fully biodegradable and compostable.
